Okay, so picture this you're already an over thinker or nervous anxious worried stressed or perfectionist. And then something happens. You have an unwanted sexual encounter. It was maybe a little "t" traumatic or maybe it was big "T" traumatic or maybe it wasn't traumatic at all but you ended up with a urinary tract infection or a vaginal infection and the only trauma of it was that you feel bad for having had the sexual encounter.
Then you think, ok, I've got an infection, so you go to the doctor you get an antibiotic or they treat it. But it doesn't get any better and then before too long you feel like you have to pee all the time. It hurts to pee, your bladder hurts, your urethra hurts. Sex starts to hurt and now you're on the merry-go-round of seeing every doctor In the country to try to heal this thing that they said was an infection and nothing is helping.
Take somebody who's already got a personality predisposition to overthink something to be worried about it or to be nervous then you add an event that caused some ambiguity or some confusion. You add medical trauma because the doctors are supposed to be able to help you and usually they just make you feel bad about yourself or they tell you that everything's gonna be fine, and it's not.
This is the recipe for chronic pelvic pain. And I know how to help.
First, I listen. For as long as it takes to tell your story and for as many times as you need to tell the story. Then I'll ask some questions. We'll get to the real fear that is keeping your body tissues stuck, tight or inflammed. We'll SHOW your nervous system that it is safe around here. Then slowly, over time, your symptoms will be less. You'll notice a whole hour went by and you didn't notice anything. Then a day and a week. There will be inevitable flare-ups. But you will have your life back. Let's meet.
